Beyond Limits 11: On Ice Edition 2.0 | Brave The Icy Wilds of Mongolia For RARE DISORDERS SOCIETY SINGAPORE, 29 JAN - 8 FEB 2026!
Join us for Beyond Limits 11: On Ice, happening FROM 29 JAN - 8th Feb 2026!
Step onto one of the most remote and breathtaking frozen landscapes on Earth, Lake Khövsgöl in Mongolia; where winter temperatures plunge to -40°C and every step forward becomes an act of courage and compassion.
This is Beyond Limits 11: a purpose-driven expedition to raise awareness and support for families impacted by rare disorders. Together, we’ll cross frozen wilderness, redefine our limits, and shine a light on the unseen battles of the Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS).
Amidst the unforgiving Mongolian winter, Lake Khuvsgul transforms into a frozen realm, where temperatures plummet to staggering lows of -40 degrees Celsius. Across this expansive icy canvas, nature crafts breathtaking, intricate patterns—a dance of white streaks against the deepest, darkest blue.
Catch a glimpse of what you’ll experience, from the first edition of “On Ice” during Beyond Limits 4 that happened at the start of 2023.
BREATHING LIFE INTO RARE COURAGE
Here, in this icy expanse, our dedicated team of purpose-driven trekkers and resilient rare disorder warriors will embark on a four-day odyssey. We will cross the frozen lake, confronting extreme whiteouts, biting winter winds, and whatever else Mother Nature throws our way.
But why? What drives us to take on such formidable challenges?
Beyond Limits is a series of annual expeditions led by Beyond Expeditions. Each year, we journey into the wilderness of a remote destination, pushing ourselves through some of the harshest environments on Earth. These are not just physical journeys — they are powerful platforms to raise awareness and rally support for causes that matter deeply to us.
This time, we are walking in solidarity with children and families battling rare disorders, shining a light on their strength, perseverance, and the hope that often goes unseen.
RARE DISORDERS: SILENT STRUGGLES, UNSEEN HEROES.
Rare disorders, though individually uncommon, collectively affect countless families. Each diagnosis brings uncertainty, emotional turmoil, and financial hardship, with few available resources and even fewer visible avenues for support.
In these moments of challenge, the Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS) stands as a beacon of hope. Through their vital work, supporting families with emotional, financial, and practical aid, RDSS ensures that no child faces their battle alone.
This expedition isn’t just a reminder of the invisible battles fought every day.
It’s a testament to the extraordinary human spirit, a journey to uncover the depths of strength, compassion, and resilience that lies within all of us.
It’s a powerful demonstration that when we come together with a shared mission, there’s no mountain too high, no frontier too frozen, and no dream too distant.
Join us in this transformative odyssey as we brave the ice and cold.
Together, we will rewrite the story of courage, unity, and hope, not only for ourselves but for every family navigating the rarest of battles.
Together, we’ll make a difference that stretches far beyond the icy expanse of Mongolia’s Lake Khövsgöl.

[HOW EXACTLY WILL OUR FUNDS BE USED TO ASSIST RDSS IN THEIR MISSION?]
Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS) is dedicated to supporting children living with rare diseases and their families by providing essential financial, emotional, and practical assistance. As a registered charity in Singapore, RDSS focuses on raising awareness, advocating for better healthcare accessibility, and easing the burdens faced by families affected by rare disorders.
All participants of this Beyond Limits expedition are asked to fundraise a minimum of SGD 5000 via GIVE.asia, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Rare Disorders Society Singapore. Please note that funds raised are entirely separate from the expedition cost and cannot be used to offset or subsidize any part of your participation fee.
Here's how the funds raised from this charity expedition will be utilized to support RDSS’s mission:
1. Financial Assistance and Support Services:
Donations will provide direct subsidies to help families offset costly medical treatments, therapies, special education, and assistive equipment needed by children living with rare disorders.
2. Caregiver and Family Support:
Funds will help sustain caregiver support programs, emotional counseling services, and community engagement initiatives that empower families and reduce isolation often experienced by rare disorder caregivers.
3. Awareness, Advocacy, and Education:
Your donations will support RDSS’s efforts in raising public awareness, fostering understanding of rare disorders, and advocating for better medical and educational support policies through outreach, events, and partnerships.
4. Operational Sustainability:
Contributions will enable RDSS to continue running its essential operations; including family assistance programs, awareness campaigns, and community support initiatives, ensuring sustained help for families year-round.
Your generosity will make a real and lasting impact on the lives of children with rare disorders and their families.
Every dollar donated will help build hope, resilience, and brighter futures for those navigating extraordinary challenges.
For more information, please contact RDSS’s team at enquiries@rdss.org.sg or visit rdss.org.sg.
Let’s join hands in raising hope for children with rare disorders and making a powerful difference where it’s needed most!
“Beyond Limits is the essence of living out who we believe we are.
Ask yourself, what limits do you have? And when did you decide to accept these limitations you created for yourself?
How can we break through the concrete boundaries we’ve boxed ourselves in? Simple: an extremely compelling vision.
Once you have that, it’s all crystal clear. No what ifs, no excuses, no blaming others. Because that’s when you rise to a different level of intensity and focus. Where all your shoulds (regrets), have now become your musts. When challenges come your way, you will find a way, if not, you are going to make a way. That’s when the real you shows up. And you will never be able to hide that extreme level of spontaneity and excitement that you burn so passionately with, every moment of your life.
All breakthroughs start with a change in your beliefs.
So... what beliefs do you represent?”
— SCOTT TAY, BE FOUNDER
Take a moment to explore the remarkable experiences shared by previous Beyond Limits participants in their journeys. These stories provide a vivid glimpse into the transformative experiences awaiting you when you choose to push your limits alongside us.
We have Zoe, a cancer survivor; and Allegra, a bubbly and inspirational woman, join us for Beyond Limits 4, a 50km trek across an icy lake at temperatures plunging below -20 degrees celsius to raise funds for the Singapore Cancer Society.
Here’s also a visual ‘journal’ of what our participants went through for BL4, because pictures can speak to you about a journey in ways that words cannot.
IS THIS FOR YOU?
Let’s be honest. This isn’t for everyone.
If you’re chasing a photo, a personal achievement, or a vacation vibe, this is not for you.
If you’re unwilling to put ego aside, contribute to the group, or be present with people who are different from you, this is not your space.
We’re not looking for the strongest or the most experienced. We’re looking for those who are grounded, respectful, open-hearted, and committed to the collective. People who are willing to be uncomfortable and still show up with grace.
This is a journey that will push you and expand you. If that excites you more than it scares you, then maybe, just maybe, this is for you.
-
While we have a thoughtfully crafted itinerary, real transformation happens beyond rigid plans. The mountains have their own rhythms and we’ll adapt as needed along the way.
If you’re someone who needs everything to go exactly as expected, this might not be for you. But if you’re open to the unknown, to flow, to growth, then you’re exactly where you need to be.
-
No drama, no diva energy, no turning on one another.
We’re serious about cultivating a safe, supportive space, where kindness, respect, and emotional maturity lead the way. Everyone’s well-being is a shared priority, and we move as one team. If you’re here to lift others up, grow together, and leave ego at the door, you’ll thrive. If not, this might not be your space.
-
There may be moments when a car breaks down or the weather throws us a curveball. That’s part of real adventure. But here’s what we know for sure, our local partners know this land intimately. They’ve guided us safely through it year after year, and we hold deep respect and trust in their wisdom.
If trusting the locals feels like a stretch, this journey may not be for you. But if you’re open to learning from those who live and breathe this land, you’ll find yourself in good hands and in good company.
-
Scott and Kavita will be leading this expedition throughout the journey.
With years of experience leading groups through remote and rugged terrain, we ask that you place your trust in the process, in the structure we’ve created, and in the people walking beside you. Every system we’ve designed, from the pod structure to the way we navigate challenges, is there to keep you safe, supported, and present.
We’ll also open the floor to anyone who feels called to volunteer and lead alongside us. This is purely by choice, and we deeply welcome those who wish to step up, not from ego, but from a place of service and shared responsibility.
If you’re open to co-creating something bigger than yourself, this space will feel like home. But if you prefer to operate solo and resist guidance, this might not be the right fit. Here, we move as one, with trust, respect, and intention.
Read this and still feel the pull? Good. We start with a 20-minute alignment call to get to know you after receiving your registration and ensure this is truly the right fit.
Because this isn’t something you sign up for lightly. And we’re not afraid to say no if the energy’s off.
But if it’s a yes on both ends, you’ll feel it. And we’ll welcome you to the family.

IMPORTANT FAQ FOR BEYOND LIMITS PARTICIPANTS
-
Every spot on a Beyond Limits expedition is highly valued, as we operate with a strict participant limit to maintain group integrity and maximize our collective impact in fundraising and awareness.
By placing a deposit and confirming your participation, you are committing not only to the physical journey but also to the purpose behind it. This includes taking responsibility for your role within the team, actively participating in fundraising efforts, raising awareness for the cause, and honoring your commitment to the expedition without withdrawal.
This is not a leisure trip or casual adventure. It is a purpose-driven expedition requiring intention, discipline, and unity. We strongly encourage all participants to review our Terms and Conditions carefully before signing up.
Please note that all deposits are strictly non-refundable. Participants are expected to adhere to the Terms and Conditions outlined at the point of registration.
Beyond Limits expeditions involve significant planning, campaign coordination, marketing, and logistical execution, including fund disbursement arrangements both in Singapore and in-country. Withdrawals are considered only under exceptional circumstances, such as medical or urgent family emergencies. In such situations, participants are expected to utilize their own travel insurance, and we will provide the necessary supporting documents to assist with insurance claims.
Your commitment plays a critical role in the success of our movement, and we deeply appreciate your alignment with these principles.
-
All proceeds will be donated to Rare Disorders Society Singapore (RDSS), a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children and families affected by rare diseases. RDSS aims to raise awareness of rare disorders, advocate for early diagnosis and intervention, and provide critical financial and emotional support to families managing lifelong complex conditions.
Our fundraising efforts will directly support RDSS's initiatives, including subsidy support for essential medical equipment, therapies, and programmes that enhance the quality of life for children with rare disorders.
All participants are encouraged to fundraise a minimum of SGD$5,000 through GIVE.asia, with 100% of the funds going directly to RDSS.
-
This Beyond Limits expedition will accommodate a maximum of 20 participants, including 1 to 3 dedicated expedition leaders from the BE Singapore team. On the ground, we will be supported by our trusted BE Mongolian team, which consists but is not limited to a nurse, experienced guides, drivers, and a cook.
If you're joining the journey solo, rest assured. We organize 2 to 3 pre-expedition group training sessions in Singapore that focus on both physical and mental preparedness. These sessions often involve long-distance treks ranging from 20 to 30 kilometers, designed to build endurance, mental resilience, and team connection before the real journey begins.
You will be welcomed into a tight-knit, purpose-driven community that trains, grows, and walks forward together.
-
A comprehensive expedition briefing will be conducted for all confirmed participants approximately 2 to 3 months prior to departure. This session will cover the detailed itinerary, safety protocols, contingency plans, and all other essential expedition information. Briefings are typically held on a weekday evening or weekend to accommodate varying schedules.
-
Participants will be required to trek distances of up to 20 kilometers per day or more, depending on terrain and weather conditions, with a total estimated distance of approximately 85 kilometers. These distances and routes are subject to change based on local conditions that may be outside the control of Beyond Expeditions and our ground teams.
All participants are personally responsible for ensuring they are physically and mentally fit for this expedition. This includes undergoing regular self-training and completing multiple long-distance treks in Singapore prior to departure. While Beyond Expeditions will conduct several group training sessions locally, these are not a substitute for individual preparation.
This expedition involves extended periods of physical exertion, challenging terrain, and unpredictable weather. It is not suitable for individuals with low baseline fitness or unmanaged medical conditions. Participants with any pre-existing medical issue must obtain written clearance from a licensed medical professional. Beyond Expeditions reserves the right to request proof of medical clearance at any point leading up to the expedition.
We have had participants over the age of 60 successfully complete past expeditions. However, success is entirely dependent on each individual's commitment to thorough preparation, personal responsibility, and accountability to the team. Our guiding principle remains to leave no one behind, but each participant is expected to carry their own weight physically and mentally.
Failure to meet the minimum required preparation or to disclose medical conditions may result in removal from the expedition for safety and operational reasons, at the discretion of the leadership team. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
-
We will be supported by three experienced BE Mongolian guides and two to three dedicated cooks throughout the expedition. Our kitchen team is capable of preparing a variety of cuisines, ranging from traditional Mongolian meals to more familiar Western dishes. Halal, vegetarian, and vegan options are available upon request.
For participants with specific dietary needs, such as Halal, vegetarian, or vegan diets, please note that food variety may be more limited compared to standard menus. This feedback is based on past participants who followed these diets during previous expeditions.
That said, your dietary requirements are important to us. Please inform any member of the Beyond Expeditions team in advance, and we will do our best to ensure your meals are well-prepared, safe, and aligned with your preferences, while allowing you to experience the local cuisine where possible.
-
In the capital city, Ulaanbaatar, we’ll be staying in three-star hotels (twin-sharing rooms paired by gender). In the countryside on the way to the frozen lake, we’ll stay in guesthouses and traditional Mongolian gers (4-10 people per guesthouse/ger divided by gender). Once on the lake, we’ll camp on the shore every night in four-season tents; either be several big tents housing 6-8 participants or four-season, two-men tents. You will sleep in four-season sleeping bags (made of pure Mongolian sheep wool) suitable for sub-zero temperatures.
-
Mongolia stands out as one of the world's safest destinations for tourists. Our local Mongolian guides and drivers boast extensive experience in navigating diverse terrains and assessing on-the-ground conditions. Many of our seasoned drivers, in particular, have accrued over a decade or even two of expertise in adventure travel.
Additionally, our BE expedition leaders are well-versed in safety protocols during our expeditions. They are fully equipped with satellite phones and comprehensive first aid kits to ensure your well-being throughout the journey.
As we embark on our expedition, we will have support vehicles accompanying us, transporting vital provisions such as food, water, tents, and our luggage. These vehicles also serve as shelters in the event of inclement weather, such as blizzards or snowstorms. In specific charity expeditions, like our Frozen Edition Taiga, we utilize support horses instead of vehicles due to the challenging landscape that prohibits vehicle access. Do note that, should unexpected weather changes occur, we have alternative plans in place to ensure the expedition continues, albeit with potential adjustments to the original itinerary.
To support your preparation, an official expedition briefing will be held for all confirmed participants. This session will cover the detailed itinerary, packing requirements, safety measures, scenario planning, and all other critical expedition information.
Your safety and well-being are our top priorities at every stage of this journey.
-
Yes, individuals of all nationalities are warmly welcomed to participate in our charity expeditions.
